Questions, answered plainly
Everything people ask us about signing in, scanning, registering a mosque and privacy.
Getting started
What is Rifqa?
Rifqa helps mosques gently notice who has been missing from Jumuah, so no one is forgotten. Worshippers scan a QR code at the mosque, and the mosque is told when someone has missed several Fridays in a row.
Do I need a password?
No. You sign in with your MTN or Airtel phone number. We send a confirmation code by SMS, you enter it, and you are logged in.
Does Rifqa work on a basic phone?
Not yet. Rifqa needs a smartphone for now. Supporting basic phones through USSD codes is part of our plan, in shaa Allah.
Does Rifqa work without internet?
Not yet. For now you need an internet connection to sign in, scan and use Rifqa. Making Rifqa work offline is part of our plan, in shaa Allah.
For worshippers
How do I register my Jumuah?
Open Rifqa, tap Register Jumuah, and scan the QR code displayed at the mosque entrance with the camera that opens.
Can I scan before the prayer?
Yes. You can scan before or after the prayer, whichever is convenient for you.
Why does Rifqa ask for my location?
To confirm you are at your mosque when you scan. Please keep location services on, otherwise your scan may fail. Your location is checked for a moment and never stored.
What do I need to give when I sign up?
Your phone number and name, your region and district, and your gender and age group. Gender and age group are used for statistics only.
My mosque is not in the list. What should I do?
Only verified mosques appear in search. Ask your imam to register the mosque with Rifqa, or tell us about it through the Contact page and we will follow up.
What happens if I miss Jumuah?
Rifqa sends a private SMS to you and to your imam after three Fridays in a row. It is a gentle check in that someone cares, nothing more.
Does Rifqa handle my Sadaqa?
No. Your mosque's Sadaqa number appears on your dashboard so you can give without first going to the mosque. Rifqa only displays the number and never processes any payment.
For mosques
Who can register a mosque?
An imam, or anyone the mosque chooses to take on this role.
What information is needed?
The mosque's name, region and district, Sadaqa number, a phone number for contact and, if you wish, an email address. We also capture the mosque's location at registration.
Why must I be at the mosque to register it?
Rifqa records the mosque's location while you register, so being there in person gives the correct place. Please turn on location services at that time.
How does verification work?
Our team calls the person who registered the mosque and carries out careful checks to keep fake and misused listings out. This usually takes 3 to 7 days, depending on how quickly we can reach the imam or the person responsible.
What happens after my mosque is approved?
The mosque appears in search results for worshippers, and your dashboard generates a QR code you can download. Print it and place it at the mosque entrances.
Who can change the mosque's details?
For now, the imam manages the mosque on Rifqa and can change its name, Sadaqa number and contacts. The District Kadhi has read-only access.
Privacy
Who can see my details?
Your own attendance is visible only to you. Gender and age group are used for statistics only, and only the imam and the District Kadhi can see them. An imam cannot browse anyone's attendance history.
Is my location stored?
No. It is checked for a moment when you scan, and then it is gone.
Do you sell my information or show ads?
No. Your information is used to run Rifqa and for nothing else.
What is coming
Will Rifqa support basic phones and offline use?
It is our plan, in shaa Allah. We want Rifqa to reach every Muslim, including those with basic phones through USSD codes and those without steady internet through offline support. This is work ahead of us and not available today. May Allah make it easy and bring it to pass.
