Terms of Service

Last updated 29 September 2026

Rifqa is a small, independent project, built and maintained by one person as a good faith effort to serve the community. These terms explain what that means for you as you use it.

Our approach, in short

  • Rifqa is offered as a genuine effort to help, not as a guaranteed or commercial service.
  • Use it honestly, respect your mosque and community, and don't try to work around how it verifies attendance.
  • We never touch, hold, or process any sadaqa or donation, the account number shown is a pointer only.
  • You can leave at any time, and we can act if these terms are broken.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Rifqa account. If you are under 18, please use Rifqa with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.

The information you give us, your name, phone number, and the mosque you attend, should be honest and your own. You are responsible for keeping your account secure, and for anything that happens through it while you are signed in.

What Rifqa does, and its limits

Rifqa helps a mosque notice, gently, when a member of its community has been missing from Jumuah, so that an imam can reach out with care. It does this by confirming, at the moment you scan, that you are reasonably present at your mosque.

This confirmation is offered in good faith, not as absolute proof. Location signals and printed codes can occasionally fail or be worked around, and Rifqa cannot guarantee that every notification is delivered or that every gap is caught. Rifqa is a tool to support an imam's care for their community, it is not a replacement for one, and it makes no claim about anyone's faith, character, or circumstances beyond whether a scan was recorded.

Rifqa also needs a working internet connection at the moment you scan, to confirm your attendance in real time. If your connection drops right as you scan, please try again once it returns.

Registering and verifying a mosque

If you submit a mosque to Rifqa, you are confirming, to the best of your knowledge, that the information you provide is accurate and that you are truly connected to that mosque. Every submission is reviewed by hand before it goes live, and a submission may be declined, along with a reason why.

Being accepted on Rifqa means a mosque currently holds a verified place within the app. It is not a religious or legal ruling on anyone's standing as an imam or leader, that remains entirely a matter for the mosque and its own community.

Sadaqa and donations

A mosque may choose to display an account number on Rifqa for members who wish to give sadaqa. This is shown purely as a convenience and a pointer. Rifqa does not process, hold, receive, or have any involvement in any payment made this way. Any donation you make is a matter entirely between you and your mosque.

Acceptable use

When using Rifqa, please don't:

  • Create an account that isn't genuinely yours, or scan on behalf of someone else.
  • Attempt to fake your location or work around how a scan is verified.
  • Submit a mosque that doesn't exist, or that you aren't genuinely connected to.
  • Use another mosque's sadaqa details for anything other than their stated purpose.
  • Attack, overload, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to Rifqa.
  • Behave abusively toward anyone else using or administering the app.

Content you provide

Anything you write into Rifqa, a mosque's description, a note, a detail on your profile, should be honest and respectful. We may remove content, or restrict an account, where this isn't the case.

Availability of the service

Rifqa is maintained with real care, but it is a small, independent project, and we cannot promise it will always be available without interruption. Features may be added, changed, or removed as Rifqa continues to grow, and we'll always try to do this thoughtfully.

Ownership

The Rifqa name, mark, and the slogan “keeping the saff whole” belong to the Rifqa project. Information you submit about yourself or your mosque remains yours, we simply display and use it to provide the service to you and your community.

Suspending or ending an account

You are free to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that clearly breaks these terms, and where reasonably possible, we will try to let you know why.

Limitation of liability

Rifqa is offered as it is, in good faith and to the best of our ability, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rifqa and its maintainer are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of the app, including a missed notification, an inaccurate scan, or any action or inaction taken by an imam or anyone else on the basis of information from Rifqa.

Rifqa is not a substitute for genuine pastoral, medical, or professional support, and nothing in the app should be relied upon as such.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda. If a disagreement ever arises, we would sincerely ask that you reach out to us directly first, so we can try to put it right.

Changes to these terms

As Rifqa grows, these terms may need to change. When they do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and make a reasonable effort to let registered users know where a change is significant.
